Angela Cooper, a senior at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received the Student Alumni Council Outstanding Senior Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 23.
The daughter of Richard and Carolyn Cooper of Red Bud, Ill., she also has been named to the 2003 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
Cooper is pursuing a bachelor of science degree in computer and information science, as well as a bachelor of art degree in communications with an emphasis in public relations.
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
By her listing in “Who’s Who,” Cooper joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
Cooper was honored for her involvement in numerous campus organizations and service projects, including President’s 20 chair; Chi Omega social chair, Panhellenic delegate, Rho Chi and house corporation chair; orientation assistant; International Club secretary, and Campus Activities Board.
She served as a tutor at Fulton Community Center and a writing assistant in the English Department. She served an internship with the technology office of the Fulton Public Schools and the promotions department of Zimmer Radio Group.
She also was the recipient of a Leadership Scholarship, president of Phi Beta Lambda Business Honorary and a member of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honorary.
