Poplar Bluff Sophomore Receives Award

Lauren Rossi, a sophomore at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received the Student Alumni Council Outstanding Sophomore Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 23. She is the daughter of Richard and Ellen Rossi of Poplar Bluff.

The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.

Rossi was honored for her involvement in numerous campus organizations and service projects, including Chi Omega recruitment chair, community advisor, University Ambassadors, The Woods Wire, writing lab assistant, Echoes on-line student newspaper and one of the founders of Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honorary.

She is a volunteer and board member for the Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence, a newsletter writer and editor for the Christian Fellowship of Columbia and a counselor for Impact World Tour. In addition, she is a Dean’s List student and has done an internship with Zimmer Radio Group in Columbia.
