A community parade on Monday will kick off Greek Week activities for Westminster College and William Woods University. The parade will begin at Westminster and end on the WWU campus.
“We’re gearing this for children, but the entire community is invited to enjoy the festivities,” Neil Stanglein, WWU coordinator of Greek life and student involvement, said.
Floats and other parade entries will assemble at Fifth Street and Westminster Avenue at 4:30 p.m. The parade route will follow Westminster Avenue north to 12th Street and then take 12th Street east to the William Woods campus.
Each fraternity and sorority has been paired with another fraternity or sorority for the parade and other Greek Week activities. Events include a Greek trivia contest immediately after the parade, Greek games on Tuesday, a volleyball tournament on Wednesday and song and skit competition on Thursday.
Greek Week will conclude with a barbecue and awards presentation Thursday.
All week long, the groups will be involved in Penny Wars to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House and other charities.
“Greek Week is a time to strengthen the friendships and bonds between Westminster and William Woods, while increasing awareness of the Greek system and raising money for charity,” Stanglein said.
