Martin Luther King Celebration

William Woods University will hold a celebration of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s birthday at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 20, in Cutlip Auditorium of the McNutt Campus Center.

The speaker is the Rev. Dr. Wallace Hartsfield, pastor of Metropolitan Baptist Church in Kansas City, Mo. He is past president of the National Pastors’ Conference and vice president of the National Baptist Convention. He has served as host of the Black Achievement Awards on B.E.T. and is nationally known for his oratory skills, as well as his community service.

Clarice Scott-Ellison, a gospel singer from Columbia, will make a guest musical appearance.

The celebration is being planned by the Rev. C.W. Dawson and sponsored by the Office of Multicultural Affairs. The event is free and open to the public. For more information, call (573) 592-4688.
