Madison Resident Named to Who’s Who

Emily Thomasson of Madison, Tenn., a senior at William Woods University, has been named to the 2007 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”

The daughter of Mark and Karen Thomasson, she is majoring in biology with dual minors in chemistry and physical science.

Thomasson was one of 13 William Woods University students selected for Who’s Who, based on being an outstanding campus leader. A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.

By being listed in “Who’s Who,” Thomasson joins and elite group students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.

Thomasson has been president of University Ambassadors and a member of President’s Twenty and Order of Omega Greek Honor Society. A member of Alpha Phi sorority, she has served as vice president of recruitment and as a member of the executive board.

She was a Freshman Advantage mentor and an Orientation Assistant. She has been involved in the Biology Club and Saddleseat Club.

Thomasson volunteers her time in campus blood drives, an annual cancer research banquet and with the Girl Scouts in Tennessee.
