Shanna Lonsberry of Elsberry, Mo., has received a scholarship from Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) in recognition of her achievements at William Wood University. She is a senior, majoring in elementary education with a minor in sports management.
Money for the scholarship came from Citigroup, which provided $101,400 to Missouri Colleges Fund to fund 26 scholarships of $3,900 each at MCF-member independent college and universities. The funds were restricted to seniors who intend to go into teaching in a public school in Missouri next September.
The daughter of Lee and Debby Lonsberry, she is very involved on campus. Active in Chi Omega sorority, she has held the office campus activities director, secretary and new member educator. She was also selected Model Initiate of her pledge class.
She has been a member of the WWU basketball team for four years, and has served as co-captain for two. She was selected to the American Midwest Conference All-Academic team for the last three years.
She was selected in 2003-04 to the AMC All-Conference Team Honorable Mention and in 2004-05 she was on the AMC All-Conference First Team. She was awarded All-American status her junior year, and was the Helen Stephen’s Award recipient at William Woods.
Lonsberry volunteers for the Missouri Senior State games and at the YMCA of Callaway County. She is a member of the Dean’s List and currently holds a 3.8 GPA.
