Gayle Lampe, professor of equestrian science at William Woods University, receives the Lurline Roth Sportsmanship Award at the American Saddlebred Horse Association National Convention held in Lexington, Ky., Feb. 19-21. Presenting the award are Fred Sarver (left), president of the American Saddlebred Horse Association, and Edward (Hoppy) Bennett, executive board member. The award is a coveted honor presented annually to a member of the Saddlebred community. It is named for Lurline Roth, who was inducted into the Kentucky State Fair Horse Show Hall of Fame in 1968 in recognition of the numerous World’s Champion and World’s Grand Champion Saddlebreds she had owned and exhibited over the years.
