Freshman Advantage participants race kayaks across WWU’s Junior Lake

Participants in William Woods University’s Freshman Advantage program got competitive recently–and had some fun in the process.

When development officer, Pam Kelly, MBA ’06, learned that Betty
Brewin Magnusson, a 1949 alumna and former commodore of the Monomoy (Mass.) Yacht Club, would be visiting campus with her husband, an idea was born.

Why not have yacht races across Junior Lake? Considering the size of the lake, of course, kayaks were substituted for yachts.

The Freshman Advantage participants, who will be new freshmen in the fall, and their mentors had a great time, no one tipped over, and the Magnussons thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
