Flora Resident Named Outstanding at William Woods University

Rachel Atchison, of Flora, Ind., a freshman at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Freshman Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 18.
An equestrian science major, she is the daughter of Michael and Susan Clark.

The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.

Atchison is a member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority, the Western Club, Campus Activities Board and participates in Up Til Dawn which raises funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Her community service includes volunteering at a Fulton nursing home, raising money and awareness for CARD-V (Coalition Against Rape and Domestic Violence), volunteering at the Take Back the Night awareness event and participating in campus blood drives.
