Carrington (Carey) Wiegers of Fayette, Mo., a senior at William Woods University, has been named to the 2006 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
He is majoring in business management and computer information sciences.
Wiegers was one of 12 William Woods University students selected for Who’s Who, based on being an outstanding campus leader. A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
By being listed in “Who’s Who,” Wiegers joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
Wiegers volunteers with the Central Callaway Fire Rescue as a fire fighter, a certified first responder and a certified engine operator (tanker/pumper). He also volunteers on campus to help with fire safety.
A member of the Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI), he is a certified SCUBA diver. He also is a FAA Certified Pilot and a member of the Kingdom Pilots Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association and Experimental Aircraft Association.
He also is a member of Phi Beta Lambda business honor society at William Woods.
