William Woods University will sponsor a $1,000 renewable scholarship to be awarded at the Midwest Regional Academy Championship Horse Show, Oct. 26 at the Midway Exposition Center in Columbia, Mo. The scholarship will go to the winner of the 14-17 Walk/Trot/Canter Saddle Seat Equitation Championship to assist with expenses to attend William Woods.
William Woods University’s equestrian studies program has an international reputation. In 1972, William Woods became the first university in the nation to offer a four-year degree in equestrian science. An equine administration program was added in 1992.
The university provides instruction in saddle seat, hunt seat, dressage and western. The school’s on-campus stable complex includes 106 large box stalls in four barns; each barn containing its own wash racks and tack rooms. The university maintains a large indoor arena, large lighted outdoor arena and a cross country course.
