Dr. Erik Hillskemper of Mission Viejo, Calif., joins the William Woods University faculty this semester as an assistant professor of English, with expertise in both composition and literature.
Hillskemper completed his bachelor of arts degree in English, graduating cum laude from California State University. He also earned a master of arts degree in English from California State University, graduating magna cum laude. He then attended the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, where he earned his Ph.D. in English.
The designer and instructor of an introductory literature survey course at the University of California, Hillskemper also instructed a supplemental course for remedial students in freshman composition. While teaching at the University of Aberdeen, he taught a course with a broad span of literature to students from diverse and linguistic backgrounds.
Hillskemper has made presentations on his academic research many times, including a presentation of a section of his dissertation at Cross Current Conference in Aberdeen. He is a member of the Modern Language Association, the Conference on College Composition and Communication and the National Council of Teachers of English.
