Heather Brake, a senior at William Woods University from Eldon, Mo., has been named to the 2006 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
The daughter of Bryan and Christine Brake, she is majoring in communications with a concentration in public relations.
Brake was one of 12 William Woods University students selected for Who’s Who, based on being an outstanding campus leader. A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
By being listed in “Who’s Who,” Brake joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
Brake has been involved in numerous campus activities. A member of the Chi Omega Sorority, she has held offices of personnel chairman, social chairman, secretary and director of cabinets. Brake is also vice president of the Woods Wire, and a member of Leaders Scholars, President’s 20 and Lambda Pi Eta communications honor society. She was also an entertainment writer for the Echoes newspaper and a community advisor.
During her career at WWU, Brake has received several achievements including being named to the National Dean’s List, receiving a William Randolph Hearst award for journalism and being top salesperson in the nation in agricultural sales and marketing.
