Dressage riders do well at St. Louis Fall Dressage Classic

For the William Woods University
dressage program, the recent St. Louis Fall Dressage Classic was a show full of

  • The most WWU horses attending a
USEF/USDF recognized dressage show at the same time (14 horse/rider

  • The first time a WWU horse showed at
Prix St. Georges (the first of the internationally recognized dressage levels),

  • The broadest range of levels shown (at
least one horse showing at Training, First, Second, Third, Fourth and Prix. St.
    Georges levels).

“The Fall Classic, held
Oct. 13-14, was, for most non-college competitors, the culmination of an entire
year-long show season, but for the WWU riders, it was their show debut for the
fall semester,” Karen Pautz, clinical instructor of equestrian studies, said.
“Many of the students
had only five weeks to learn the intricacies of their tests and horses, and yet
came away with good ribbons in large classes, including many first-place
awards. Due to national regulations, many of the WWU riders had to show in the ‘Open’
division of their level, which meant showing against professionals on privately
owned horses.”

The following are the results by level and division. Horses showed either once
or twice over the weekend.
