Columbia Resident Chosen for Social Work Honor Society at William Woods

Cathee Wolford of Columbia has been initiated into Phi Alpha Social Work Honor Society at William Woods University. Phi Alpha offers membership to junior and senior social work majors with a 3.4 overall grade point average and a 3.7 GPA in social work courses.

According to Harriet Yelon, associate professor of social work and the organization’s sponsor, members must exemplify the ethical and professional values, attitudes and conduct expected of members of the social work profession.

“We were pleased and honored to initiate her,” Yelon said. “She is a wonderful person, an excellent and hardworking student and a role model for students. Her family, peers, colleagues and professors are very proud to know her.”

In addition to attending William Woods, Wolford works at Advent, where she helps individuals with job skills, finding jobs and maintaining jobs. She also teaches a sign-language class.
