Sarah Popelka, of Clayton, Mo., a junior at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Junior Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 18.
She is the daughter of Janet and Jason Popelka.
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
Popelka is an active member of the Delta Gamma sorority, serving as vice president of programming, director of public relations, director of activities and currently the chapter president. She is an active member of President’s Twenty, secretary for the Biology Club and a member of Order of Omega Greek honor society.
Her community service includes volunteering for Service for Sight, participating in Up Til Dawn, working as a Dogwood Animal Shelter volunteer and presenting numerous projects and presentations to the elementary youth of Fulton.
