The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (the Mormans) will hold a youth conference at William Woods University, Friday and Saturday, June 21-22. More than 300 participants are expected to attend the event from 8 a.m. on Friday to 8 p.m. the following day.
This conference is an annual event that changes locations each year. This year’s conference involves about 20 congregations from the Columbia and St. Roberts regional areas of the church.
Participants will be housed on campus in the student residence halls and will include close to 250 youth, ages 14 to 18, and 60 adult leaders. The conference is open to the youth who are members of the church and they were encouraged to invite friends.
The Church of Latter Day Saints is sponsoring the event and there is no cost for the youth. The purpose of the youth conference is to “provide an environment where the youth can have fun learning gospel principles,” says Gary Nevels, one of the conference organizers.
Activities will include service projects for the Fulton community, workshops, speakers and team building exercises.
