Whitney Miller, of Boise, Idaho, a senior at William Woods University in Fulton, Mo., received a Student Alumni Council Outstanding Senior Award at the university’s co-curricular honors banquet, April 23.
She is the daughter of Kirk and Donna Miller .
The Outstanding Student Awards are the only awards at William Woods University bestowed on students by the nomination and vote of other students. Nominees must demonstrate academic achievement, campus and community involvement and leadership.
Miller is a member of Alpha Phi sorority, where she has held the positions of Panhellenic representative, secretary, vice president and chapter historian. She also participated on the executive board that helped form the Greek Council at WWU.
She has held the position of secretary and is currently president of the Hunter Jumper Show Team. During that time, she managed a team of 20-30 members and ran five on-campus horse shows with 100 plus participants.
As a member of Campus Crusades for Christ, she was in charge of running weekly Tuesday meetings and coordinated speakers, entertainment and other miscellaneous activities.
In addition to her campus involvement, she is active in the community. She is in charge of running the office for the Equestrian Special Olympics Invitational. She was also a mentor for two Peace Jam Slams.
