Alarie Sims of Blue Springs, Mo., a senior at William Woods University, has been named to the 2006 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.”
The daughter of Warren and Cheryl Sims of Blue Springs, she is majoring in business administration/management with a minor in theatre.
Sims was one of 12 William Woods University students selected for Who’s Who, based on being an outstanding campus leader. A campus nominating committee and editors of the annual directory chose the students based on academic achievement, service to the community, leadership in extracurricular activities and potential for continued success.
By being listed in “Who’s Who,” Sims joins an elite group of students from more than 2,300 institutions of higher learning in all 50 states. Outstanding students have been honored in the annual directory since it was first published in 1934.
Sims is a head community advisor. A member of Alpha Chi Omega sorority, she has served as vice president of fraternity relations (2004) and vice president of communications (2005). She also is a member of Phi Beta Lambda business honor society.
She has served as secretary and president of University Ambassadors, a four-year representative of the Student Alumni Council and an executive board member of Up ’Til Dawn, which raises funds for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Sims has been active in various areas of theater including stage manager, sound engineer and costume and properties mistress. She is co-president of Alpha Psi Omega, a national theatre honor society, and a member of Jester’s Theatre Club. She received the Outstanding Stage Manager award in 2003.
She has received both the Outstanding Freshman Student Award and the Outstanding Junior Student Award. She also was selected by her business professors to receive a scholarship from Edward E. Jones.
