Jessica Bargate of Jefferson City, Mo., is the recipient of a scholarship from the Missouri Colleges Fund (MCF) in recognition of her achievements at William Woods University.
Money for the scholarship came from UPS, which donated $43,200 to underwrite $2,700 scholarships at each of the 16 MCF-member colleges and universities.
Originally from Durban, South Africa, Bargate and her family relocated to Clearwater, Fla., in 2002. They later moved to Jefferson City, Mo. She is a sophomore at William Woods University, where she is seeking a degree in graphic design with a double minor in business and studio art.
She is involved in many student organizations, including the Honors Program, Campus Activities Board, President’s Twenty and the Rwanda Project. She is also president of the Multicultural Affairs Club, as well as chair of the Student Assembly.
Bargate plans to continue her education, and hopes to eventually work in advertising and promotions, while continuing to pursue her passion of painting and drawing.
