Terry Martin, William Woods University professor of art, will exhibit some of his artwork at Orr Street Studios in Columbia starting Sunday. The show, “The Colors and Textures of Nature,” runs through Saturday, April 5.
Gallery hours are noon to 3 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sundays.
Martin has taught at William Woods University since 1988. He earned three degrees from the University of Missouri, a Bachelor of Science degree in education, a Master of Education degree and a Master of Fine Arts degree.
During his time at MU, he was a graduate student, teaching assistant, instructor and gallery assistant. Before becoming an art professor, he was a public school art teacher (grades 7-12), art director, illustrator, commercial artist, designer and volunteer in various art therapy settings.
Martin has earned two awards for excellence in teaching at William Woods—the Louis D. Beaumont Dad’s Association Distinguished Professor Award and the Governor’s Award.
He advocates for organizations that have the potential to bring people together and celebrate creative differences among individuals, with the hope that it will create a more respectful and united society.
